The Future Needs 186,000 Houses A Year: HIA
The Housing Industry Australia has recently released a report addressing the future housing needs of the nation and to ensure that we have enough houses to accommodate our growing population.
In the report, the HIA believes that 186,000 dwellings will have to be built to satisfy the demand for housing. This comprises 152,000 homes for new households, and 35,000 for demolished homes. For the past year to the present, built housing has satisfied the number of new homes demanded. In the long term, ensuring that the supply and demand scale is balanced will rely heavily on government policies and how the government reacts to the growing demand, according to HIA economist, Geordan Murray.
